Lens Care

Feb 5, 2016 | Blog, Eye Care, Glasses

Always wet your lenses. Using “moisture” is the most important thing to remember when cleaning your glasses. Water works great! “Eyewear lens cleaners” may also work, but sometimes a fine mist may not be as good as a thorough rinse with good ole H2O.

Wiping your lenses clean (after wetting): Most any ‘clean’ medium is more than sufficient, as it is difficult to harm a wet lens with a clean cloth. The average cotton cloth, cleaning rag, or dish towel works well. Even a decent paper towel will more than suffice.

The “lens cleaning cloth” you may be familiar with is NOT recommended, for two reasons: 1) They get dirty. 2) They encourage you not to use any type of moisture.

One of the worst things you can do is to attempt cleaning your glasses with no moisture using the (dirty) shirt that you are wearing (or a used “lens cloth” over and over).
